'Factory farming' poisons our food? Plus a new podcast launch
Genetic Literacy Project has just launched its new podcast series. In the inaugural episode, veterinarian and farmer Dr. Leah Dorman and I take on 'factory farming.' Is our food tainted with antibiotics and hormones? What about animal welfare? Surely conventional farms routinely abuse animals, just like PETA has claimed for decades.
Well, not really. Lost in the wake of such heated rhetoric is more sober analysis offered by agricultural scientists, who say that much of what we hear about modern farming from activist groups and the media is wrong. On this episode of the Genetic Literacy Podcast, Ohio-based veterinarian and farmer Dr. Leah Dorman corrects some of the half-truths and outright falsehoods surrounding animal agriculture.
